As many of you have probably figured out, Last Things is in a state of suspended animation. Here’s where we’re at:

Since Extra Life has signed to Northern Spy Records, and since N Spy will likely be doing many of my other projects as well, Last Things doesn’t have any releases planned at the moment. There could be some more later on, but we’ll see…

Last Things is still taking online orders for these three releases however. The only other place you’ll find Ripped Heart and the Parenthetical Girls split is at the Extra Life online store and at shows. The Scultpress single is really only available here.

I’m going to be honest about the online orders: they may take some time! Hopefully the shipping delays will be more like a couple of weeks rather than a couple of months. Please just expect that, and at the same time don’t hesitate to hound me about it.

Thanks so much for the continued support. Be on the lookout for Extra Life on tour in Europe and the U.S. this spring and summer.

SEPTEMBER thee 1st MMXI - September 1, 2011 by admin

The Sam Hillmer / Charlie Looker split chamber music record Brooklyn Codex is going to be delayed for quite a while. We’re thinking early 2012. We hope this is isn’t too much of a drag. If we’re going to do this, we want to do it right.

JUNE thee 25th, MMXI - June 25, 2011 by admin

Several things happening…

We are now accepting pre-orders for the Sculptress Cuckold 12″ single. Here is artwork, courtesy of our eternal homegirl Caroline Teagle :

The release date has been pushed back again, all the way to August 1. We trust there will be no ill will. Vinyl is a bitch but of course it’s worth it. The Last Things mail order machine is now oiled enough that orders will actually be shipped out on August 2 or 3. Pre-order now!

In other news, Extra Life will tour the U.S. in July with Sam Mickens and Parenthetical Girls. In honor of this, Last Things will be teaming up with Slender Means Society to release a special limited edition Parenthetical Girls / Extra Life 12″ split single of mutual covers. It includes P Girls’ cover of Extra Life staple “Head Shrinker” and EL’s cover of the P Girls classic “I Was The Dancer”. No cover art, just straight spartan wax. No mail orders for now, only available at the shows.

New Yorkers, the Last Things Showcase is on June 11. Please do come check the pageantry.

Regarding orders: we’ve been waiting for the remaining LP’s from the Extra Life tour to be shipped to us. They are now officially in the mail to the U.S. so we’ll receive them by mid-week and all orders will be shipped out by week’s end.

There’s been some slight pushing back of the summer release schedule but it’s all still on. Sculptress video coming out very soon. And look out for Extra Life touring the U.S. in July with Sam Mickens and Parenthetical Girls.

Ripped Heart is available today digitally on itunes, amazon, myspace music and I think a few others. We’re truly thrilled to share it with you. To order the vinyl, just go to the STORE section over on the left. We’re only accepting paypal, no credit cards yet. Shipping costs will depend on where you live. I do encourage purchasing the vinyl. You know it will sound more hearty, it features the gorgeous art of Caroline Teagle, and the purchase also includes free downloads of four remixes (by Xiu Xiu, Liturgy, Former Ghosts feat. Sam Mickens and Laurel Halo) . We didn’t end up using download code cards, but if you buy the vinyl from here I will personally send you the files for the EP and the remixes.

Extra Life will be touring Europe in a little over a week. Check the dates and please come see us. We’ll be playing Ripped Heart material plus some even newer un-recorded material.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Last Things is just beginning and I invite you along on the journey. The whole release schedule is congealing for the year and I’m thrilled about it. The first release will be the new Extra Life 12″ EP Ripped Heart. With the vinyl purchase I’ll be offering a free digital download of the EP plus four remixes from Xiu Xiu, Laurel Halo, Liturgy and Former Ghosts (feat. Sam Mickens).

All releases will be limited vinyl runs, available directly from Last Things and perhaps a few other cozy little distributors. The plan for digital is coming together right now and I’ll let you know about that as well.
